Members, including executives of Kofi Wayo’s United Renaissance Party, URP in the Volta Region have abandoned their party to join Nana Addo’s campaign.

The members who have come together under a group called ‘Arise for Nana Addo 2012’ made this known at a press conference in Ho.

Rapheal Kwawu the regional youth organizer who spoke for 287 defectors of the URP noted: “We believe in the message of the NPP and Nana Addo.”

He explained that they left the URP voluntarily after becoming convinced that the URP has lost focus and every impetus to be a resolute and progressive party.

More so, after critically analyzing the messages and manifestos of the various parties, they have realized that the free SHS policy which focuses on the teacher and quality as proposed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is the best bet for the country.

He also added that the NPP under former President Kufuor proved to the whole world through its programmes and policies that it has a track record in transforming Ghana and fulfilling its promises. Mr. Kwawu mentioned the National Health Insurance Programme, National Youth Employment Programme, oil discovery, Single Spine Salary Structure and many policies as evidence of the NPP’s credibility and ability to fulfil promises.

He therefore exclaimed, “We are confident in Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo” to move Ghana forward and save Ghana from her current economic predicaments. Mr. Kwawu also noted that as believers in the Free Senior High School Education, they would divide themselves into groups and go to every nook and cranny in the Volta Region to evangelize and win souls for Nana Addo.

He said “the Free SHS is Possible with Nana Addo and his team and so we will also make sure that we comb every part of the region to share the massage. It is possible!” he stressed. He promised that “we will break the jinx the NDC has on the Volta Region and make the region a no man’s land.”

The President of Arise for Nana Addo 2012, Francis Sowah, formerly, the national general secretary of the URP, noted that the group which started operations recently has attracted a lot of members due to their vigorous and efficient strategies.

He hinted that in the coming days the country would see more people joining the “noble cause” to put Nana Addo and the NPP in power to move the country forward. Mr. Sowah said, “We have had many calls across the country and so the Volta Region is just a tip of the iceberg.”

He also added the Arise for Nana Addo 2012 group also recognized that for Nana Addo to have the opportunity to implement the Free SHS promise, he would need support from the constituencies. Hence, they have to put measures in place to ensure over 90% of parliamentary candidates of the NPP make it to the next parliament.

The outspoken former URP stalwart noted that the pro Nana Addo group has a subtle and overt strategy to win souls for the NPP in the December elections. He added that they were going to be vigilantes to ensure free, fair and transparent elections because “we know that majority of Ghanaians will vote for Nana Addo, but if we become complacent the votes might disappear at the polling stations.”

The only way to distribute the oil money to benefit every Ghanaian is through the free SHS policy of Nana Addo and the NPP John Mahama and NDC do not want this, hence their opposition to this very good policy Let us ask ourselves this question...After 2 years of oil production can anyone apart from Ato Ahwoi, John Mahama and his brother, Asiedu Nketuia, the id10t Ablakwa and the rest, frankly say they can SEE OIL MONEY in their lives? Yes the only way to feel it in your pocket or household is when you, your brother/sister, cousin, niece, nephew, grand children enter SHS in Akuffo Addo's Ghana from Sept 2013 Part of the oil money given to GNPC will be iused to pay for the free SHS. So if currently you are even paying GHC 200.00 as SHS term fees, this money will remain in your pocket, household, family...This is sooooo good! GOD BLESS NANA ADDO

I am very happy that my brothers and sisters in the Volta Region are now seeing the light.. The days of NDC MONOPOLY over the Region is over... This is the beginning of the end for the party. Am already hearing that Okudzeto and some other ministers and executives of the party have already bought plane tickets down to fly out of the country immediately after the elections bcos they are not sure they would win. They are running away from Nsawam??????

Thank God some people have started seeing the light. I am very positive that many people will see through the lies and deception of the NDC and support NPP. Our economy is weak, our roads are bad, our hospitals are in shambles, Ghanaians are dying needless deaths because of poor facilities. You have a party who claims, they are social democrats, and are interested in paying questionable judgement debts to party cronies. This can only happen to an African country, otherwise, the NDC should feel shy to ask for votes. Ghanaians, wake up, these team b government has nothing to offer.

Great to read about 700 people from northern and volta regions defecting to NPP. Granted that this is stage managed, can you quantify the convincing effect it could have on otherwise undecided voters? I cannot but agree that, the free/highly subsidized SHS is possible. Lets try nana afterall, the NPP has a track record of introducing so many policies we never anticipated. The list is very tall but I will single out metro mass transit bus services. But for these buses, I believe we would have been paying money bags to travel from Tamale to Accra. Please let us be civil in our political disagreements. All the best NANA.
