The Assemblies of God Church has described as falsehood reports that it has declared support for President John Mahama ahead of the December polls.

The Daily Democrat newspaper on Thursday published that the Church declared its support for the President who incidentally is a member of the church.

But speaking to XYZ News, the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church Reverend Frempong Manso said the church is a religious institution which does not meddle in partisan politics.

He said in view of the diverse background of the membership of the church it will be fundamentally wrong for the church to support any of the candidates in the upcoming elections.

“President Mahama is a member of the Ringway Assemblies of God Church, Osu, a full member of that local church, so his local Church bought a page in the graphic to congratulate him on the high position that the Lord has given him and to pray for his success that came from his local church.

“The Daily democrat in reporting that captioned it to make it seem as if it was the Assemblies of God Church that has done that. “So that publication has nothing to do with the Assemblies of God parent Church, we have had no publication and we do not have any inkling to that” Reverend Frempong Manso said.
