Pollster Ben Ephson says the endorsement of President Mahama by ex-President Rawlings is the final nail in the coffin of splinter party NDP.

Mr. Rawlings in a meeting with some Volta Chiefs noted that the emergence of John Mahama after President Mills’ demise has added a spark to the governing party and has suddenly revived the possibility of the ruling party winning the December elections.

Speaking to XYZ News Mr. Ephson said such an endorsement is what the NDP was hoping never happens. He said the latest pronouncement by the NDC founder marks the end of the NDP. “Such endorsement is what the NDP was hoping won’t happen. Now that Rawlings has openly endorsed Mahama, they are now saying Mrs. Rawlings only supports the NDP. “If it is Mrs. Rawlings only then the NDP is virtually non-existent now. Rawlings’ comment virtually extinguishes the political oxygen of the NDP.

But the NDP says Mr. Rawlings’ observation that president Mahama has rejuvenated the party is no endorsement. Interim General-Secretary Dr. Mamboa-Rockson says the Ex-President will still campaign for the NDP.
