An amount of Forty Five thousand Ghana Cedis(GH¢45,000) has been stolen from a car belonging to the Northern Regional Division of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM with Kwami Sefa-Kayi, the party’s Regional Treasurer, Rashid Tanko, popularly known as ‘computer’ said he went to withdraw money from the National Investment Bank (NIB) to pay party agents monitoring the ongoing biometric voter register exhibition exercise.

According to him, he made a few stops on the way and later realized that he had a flat tyre. When he got down to check, he realized that the back door of his car was opened and that the money which was kept in a black polythene bag was no longer there.

“When we got to the traffic light we experienced an unusual movement of the vehicle and so we got down to check…when the police came to look at it they also realized that the back door was properly locked but had been tempered with.

Two suspects have been arrested and are with the police. How they managed to get it (the money) out that is the problem and that is why they (police) have to do an investigation. I saw a guy on a motor bike with another person behind me when I was driving and my suspicion heightened. We also did a behind the scene investigation and we realized that the two people who were behind me were involved but they are on the run. This is not the first time I have cashed money and I have gone to pay; I have never had this experience before. It is very weird and interesting…” he narrated.
