Delegates and executives of the NDC have been charged upon the arrival of the former President Jerry John Rawlings.

Delegates could not hold their joy as Mr. Rawlings entered the inner perimeter of the Sports Stadium which has been branded with party colours.

There were doubts that the founder of the NDC would attend the NDC congress due to his constant criticism of the late President Mills and his administration. But his spokesperson Kofi Adams confirmed on Wednesday that the former President would attend and address the congress.

The NDC would used to endorse President Mahama as the flagbearer and leader of the party ahead of the 2012 general elections. Supporters of the ruling party are already trooping to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, whiles others engage in brisk business at the main entrance with the sale of party paraphernalia.

The former President however arrived at the congress without his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings who is rumoured to be the mastermind of the formation of the National Democratic Party.

Meanwhile, the Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has arrived at the congress grounds. The Vice President is charged waving his NDC flag as he walks majestically to his seat.
