Government says it is exploring measures to institute social pension for all persons beyond 65 years with no productive capacity. It is therefore intensifying efforts at constructing what the government calls a solid social floor for all to cushion them in bad times and equip them to withstand economic risks and shocks.
Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur announced this at the 9th Quadrennial Delegates Congress of the Ghana TUC ongoing at the KNUST in Kumasi.
He said government is committed to the principle of equal pay for equal work, hence the implementation of the Single Spine Pay Policy, which has increased the government wage bill from 2.4 billion cedis to 5.6 billion cedis.
Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur was welcomed by the Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Mensah, KMA Chief Executive Samuel Sarpong, Deputy Minister of Employment and Social Welfare, Antwi Boasiako-Sekyere and the Regional Executive of the NDC.
A sizeable crowd of NDC supporters thronged the airport singing and waving the party’s flag.
The supporters who wore T shirts of the late President, Prof Atta Mills, followed the Vice President to the residency.
