The President of Childhood Care Education Students Association of Ghana of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Mr Siita Angaamwine Salifu has called on Ghanaians to dedicate the impending elections to the late President John Atta Mills in memory of his stance for peace.

Mr Salifu said this at the one-week commemoration service of the late President in Winneba organized by the Association on Tuesday. The programme was under the theme “Unity and love, our priority”.

The Association expressed its condolences to the former first lady, Mrs Naadu Mills. Mr Salifu said the late President Mills had left for Ghanaians a legacy of self-discipline and political tolerance, and expressed the hope that the coming election would be dedicated to him by ensuring that it was organized in a peaceful manner as he promised.

According to Mr Angaamwine, the late President was a defender of democracy not only in Ghana but also in the entire West African sub-region. “We have indeed lost a great president who served his country with dignity, integrity and humility”.

Dr Cosmos W. K. Mereku, head of the Department of Music of UEW said the departure of President Mills should be a learning period to all Ghanaians, especially the youth.
