| Ward-Brew Suspects Foul Play In Mills’ Death |

The founder and leader of the Democratic People’s Party (DPP), Thomas Ward-Brew is calling for an immediate investigation in to the death of former President John Evans Atta Mills.
Ward Brew said the sudden demise of a seemingly healthy President who declared himself fit after a routine medical checkup in the United States is still shrouded in mystery.
The DPP leader’s comment comes a day after the sudden death of President Mills.
John Mills was confirmed dead at the 37 Military Hospital Tuesday after a short illness. His unexpected death comes five month to the general elections in December.
The President who is reported to have been battling with cancer until his death embarked on series of routine medical checkups abroad.
During his last trip from the US last month, the late president was seen jogging to demonstrate his stamina at the airport.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Thomas Ward-Brew said he suspects foul play in the late President’s death.
He indicated that, five months to an elections, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) both fixated with power are prepared to do anything just to win the elections.
Ward-Brew said he does not rule out the other political parties since according him “the death could come from any quarters”.
The DPP leader stressed the need for government to make the autopsy report of the deceased President public for Ghanaians to know the actual cause of the unfortunate death of their leader.
Ward Brew however advocated for a compulsory medical test for all aspiring presidential candidates to avert this ill-fated incident on the nation.
He said the health and safety of a sitting president must be the number one priority to the staff at the presidency.
The DPP leader described the late Atta Mills as a peace loving and incorruptible leader who sought the welfare of Ghanaians.
Describing him as a tactful teacher, Ward Brew said the late President helped shaped his political career at the Ghana Law School.
He expressed his condolences to the wife and family of the late president, the NDC and the country for the great loss.
In a quick rebuttal, a communications team member of the NDC, Kakra Essumuah disagreed vehemently with the Ward-Brew's assertions.
He said “the timing of anybody death is not controlled by human beings; it is not beyond God to take the life of any person”.
Kakra Essumuah believes God knows best hence no one should read any meaning to the sudden death of the late President.
