Founder and Leader of the United Renaissance Party (URP), ‘Chuck’ Kofi Wayo has described the Public Account Committee’s sitting over the judgment debt as a “joke” and a waste of the country’s resource.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Morning Show on Thursday July 19 with Adakabre Frimpong Manso, Charles Kofi Wayo said the committee members were “clowns” and the whole sitting is a “joke,” especially looking at the way committee members and those who appear before the committee speak to each other and those who appear before them.
To buttress his point, Kofi Wayo claims one of his friends in an un-named foreign embassy called him and said “Hey Chuck, look at your people, the clowns are it again.”
The URP leader argues the whole process of a parliamentary enquiry into the judgment debt saga is a non-starter. In his opinion, it is the duty of the police to take up the judgement debt issue and deal with the culprits rather than tasking members of the legislature with investigative duties.
As well, the outspoken URP leader Kofi Wayo continued, Ghana’s parliamentarians have no moral right to be investigating issues of corruption since it has singularly failed to investigate accusations leveled against the House and some individual members., adding that when
Citing the failure of Parliament to act despite a public allegation by MP for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, Hon. P.C Appiah Ofori that MPs were bribed with $5,000 each to vote in support of the sale of Ghana Telecom, as well as allegations that former Speaker of Parliament Begyina Sekyi Hughes misappropriated money, Kofi Wayo found it laughable that MPs would today decide to look into judgment debts.
Instead of doing the right things, ‘our parliamentarians rather sit and talk about CP and loans for themselves,’ he scoffed.
Charles Kofi Wayo told listeners of Adom Dwaso Nsem that most of Ghana’s leaders are empty headed, so they find it important to pay judgement debts rather than building schools and roads for the people.
He therefore charged the Attorney General, BNI and the Police to take charge of investigations into the judgment debt saga. |
