| 'NDC More Attractive To Win Polls' |

The Wa East constituency secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Issahaque Munawaru, has observed that the wind of change blowing across the constituency has made the party more attractive than before.
He said a number of New Patriotic party (NPP) supporters who hitherto did not want to hear the name of the NDC were joining the party every day from all parts of the constituency due to the unprecedented development President J.E.A Mills, through the district chief executive, Mr. Ameen Salifu, had brought to the people.
Mr. Munewaru was speaking at separate ceremonies at Dupari and Bulenga in the Wa East district to introduce members of the NPP who had joined the NDC at the weekend.
He said a number of NPP supporters in Kulkpong, Mutigu, Goripie and Chaggu had also defected to NDC. He said the constituency had enjoyed massive facelift through various projects, which include a new senior high school at Funsi, the district capital, provision of urban water which cost over GH¢11 million, extension of electricity from Sakae in Sissala East to Funsi and the provision of an ultra modern community centre. “The provision of electricity at Goripie and Bulenga alone outperformed the NPP’s eight-year period since it was only Manwe Community that the NPP provided electricity to”, he added.
According to him, as a result of these, the people of Wa East were joining the NDC in their numbers not only because of the numerous projects but also the unprecedented management of the economy. He added that “no government has been able to achieve a single digit inflation for the period that this government has sustained it”.
“No government in the history of Ghana attained a GDP growth of 13.6 percent and improved the salaries of workers across the board as well as implemented the Single Spine Salary Structure,” he said.
The district chief executive and the parliamentary candidate of the NDC, Mr. Ameen Salifu, in welcoming the defectors, urged supporters of the NDC to embrace them by integrating them into the mainstream activities of the party.
He said Ghanaians had seen the good works of the NDC and assured the people of the constituency that the government would continue to bring development to the area so that the youth would not drift to the southern part of the country to look for non-existing jobs.
He predicted a massive win for the NDC and himself over the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency, Mr. Godfrey Bayon Tangu, come December 7, 2012.
The leader of the defectors at Dupari, Mr. Issahaque Samsudeen, said they would put all their expertise at the disposal of the NDC to enable the party to capture the seat which had eluded the NDC since 200. |
