Mr Victor Smith, Eastern Regional Minister, has noted that under-development of the Abuakwa North Constituency was due to bad leadership.

The Minister, who is also the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Aspirant for Abuakwa North, appealed to the people to give him the nod in December 7, to go to parliament and bring development to the area.

Mr Smith made the observation on Saturday when he launched his campaign for the upcoming elections, at Akyem Tafo. The Minister received a rousing welcome from supporters, friends and family members when he arrived at the rally grounds at about 12:30 pm.

Mr Smith appealed to the people to avoid partisan politics and bring on board somebody who could help develop the area. He promised to help construct the Kukurantumi – Asafo road, Information and Communication and Technology (ICT) centre and the re-construction of the New Tafo market among other, if voted into Parlaiment.

Mr Smith reiterated the government’s good intention to initiate policies and programmes, which would seek the welfare of all Ghanaians including those in Abuakwa North.

He asked the people to renew the mandate of President John Evans Atta Mills to continue with his “Better Ghana Agenda”.
Mr Anthony Jampoh, Regional Secretary of the NDC, asked the electorate to vote for development and not for a family member or a relative who would not help in the development of the area.

Mr Jampoh appealed to NDC supporters to move from house-to- house and educate people about the achievements of President Mills under his “Better Ghana Agenda”.

Also in attendance at the launch, was Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr Baba Jamal Ahmed, National Women’s Organizer, Ms Anita Desoso and Mr Samuel Nuamah Donkor, former Ashanti Regional Manister.
