Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, has revealed that the Mills-Mahama administration has adopted a deliberate policy to starve the Ashanti Region of development because the region does not vote for the NPP.

According to Dr Duffuor, because the Ashanti Region is the World Bank of the NPP, it is extremely difficult for the NDC government to bring projects to the region because they fail to vote for the NDC during elections.

The Finance Minister made this known when he was addressing the people during the inauguration of the Sekyere Afram Plains North District Assembly at the Capital, Drobonso, last Thursday.

Dr Duffuor, a native of the area, stated that because of the voting pattern of the region which favours the NPP, it is extremely difficult for him to lobby for more projects for the area.

“Sometimes when I try to lobby for more projects to be constructed in Kumawu, some top government officials usually object to my plea, saying these people always vote against us during elections”

But for President Mills’ benevolence, Dr Duffour insisted that Kumawu and its nearby towns would not have benefitted from the numerous projects under the present government, reiterating that some government officials were not pleased with the votes that the NDC got from the area.
