The Chiefs and people of Vakpo through its Umbrella organisation, the Vakpo Youth Council (VYC) have restated their position to boycott the newly created North Dayi district, with its capital to be sited at Anfoega.

In a press statement signed by Mr Tom Tsuiatorfe, spokesman of VYC at Vakpo and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, the Association expressed indignation of government's inactivity and silence over its petition of December 5, 2011.

It said as if there was a grand design to continue to marginalized Vakpo community, it had not been mainstreamed into discussions forming the basis for the creation of the new district and that they were only informed about tomorrow's inauguration on Tuesday, June 26.

It urged Assembly members not to represent the traditional area in that capacity. " The statement is urging the government to come clear on the issue or have itself to blame", it said.

Meanwhile, eight traditional areas excluding Vakpo have been drafted to form the new district. They are Aveme, Awate, Botoku, Tsoxor, Tsrukpe, Wusuta, Sabadu and Anfoega. Traditionally, Vakpo traditional area has 14 communities and five electoral areas.
According to history, the forebears of Vakpo gave out the parcel of land for the people of Anfoega to settle.
