The flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has assured Ghanaians corruption will have no place under his watch if he gets the nod as president after the December polls.

Speaking to enthusiastic NPP supporters ahead of a six-day tour of the Upper West region of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo said Ghanaians would begin to enjoy the fruit of their toil when the NPP returns to power.

He fired salvos at the President John Evans Atta Mills-led administration describing it as a government that has failed to address the plight of the poor, while officials engage in massive corruption.

“We’re going to give Ghana an honest government and not a corrupt chop, chop government like we have now,” Nana Akufo-Addo promised the electorate.

Nana Addo, who is the main contender to the ruling National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) candidate, President Mills, reiterated that education and health will remain paramount if he becomes the first gentleman of the country.

“We’re going to make sure that every boy or child in this country gets access to free secondary education,” Nana Addo, who served as a Foreign Minister under the Kufuor administration pointed out.

“We’ll make sure that the National Health Insurance Scheme provides good healthcare for everybody in this country.”
