Some Parents in Tamale are reportedly returning Voter Identification Cards belonging to their wards who are minors to the Electoral Commission.

These under-aged children were apparently forced by some political parties to register during the registration exercise.

The Electoral Commission says it is excited about this development and has no intention of prosecuting parents who are returning the cards.

The Northern regional director of the electoral commission Sylvester Kanye in an interview with XYZ News’ correspondent in the Northern region, Kizito Abagoeme said this move will help the commission clean the register.

“Ensuring a credible and reliable voter’s register is a collective responsibility so if parents have taken it up now to bring out those unqualified people it will help the EC clean the register, so it welcoming”.
